CRAFT SHOW: m.a.d.e. in the wintertime

made_web_xmas072

I finally made it out to my first m.a.d.e. show in the springtime and really enjoyed the unique combo of art and craft on offer at this bi-annual affair.

Next weekend’s show promises an opportunity to meet clothing designers, ceramicists, furniture designers, gallery artists, and other artisans, “who believe in a vision that speaks both to themselves as well as the end user, integrating both traditional techniques and modern technology to bridge the gap between art and function”.

The show will also feature an installation called The Commons – a collective project that aims to take art out of the gallery context and demonstrate how it can comfortably exist in our day-to-day lives. This time participating artists are invited to create a one-of-a-kind ornament, donating 20% of sales to a local charity that has direct impact on the artistic community.

Visit www.modernartdesignexhibit.com for more information on the show and participating vendors.
