GET SCHOOLED: The Art Of Landscape Quilting weekend workshops

A note from TCA reader Janet Patterson about a fibre art retreat she’d like to recommend:

I would like to spread the word about this unique opportunity to get out of Toronto and into a beautiful part of the province, the Bruce Peninsula, for a creative weekend workshop in fibre art. The workshop takes place from Sept. 19 - 21, 2008. The details are outlined in this link. I attended a workshop at this location last year and it was really great. It’s a fairly rustic lodge (with bunk beds!) right on the shore of Georgian Bay. If you’re a nature lover, vegetarian and a textile artist, you’ll be in your element here. A bird banding station is on site, so if you get up early enough, you can observe the researcher as he surveys the nets, extracts the birds, records their particulars and then releases them. The workshop instructor, Bev White, is not only extremely talented but also very personable and down-to-earth.

Next workshop: Friday, September 19 (evening) to 2 p.m., Sunday, September 21, 2008
