TALK AMONGST YOURSELVES

i travelled to London-town this weekend, in part to check out the antiques market where i picked up a few vintage finds (and also value village for some discount acrylic yarn, shhh!...) but didn't really get a chance to get my craft on this weekend. how about all of you? as part of the Toronto Craft Alert's goal to galvanize the city's craft community, we'd like to get a bit of a discussion going. discuss any crafty topic you like... we'll be re-posting this thread every monday morning, so that the discussions can continue in the comments section of this post.

Let's see...Saturday was so nice out-- did a bit of gardening and perfecting the art of 'puttering'...preparing for my future years as an old man.
My wife Noreen and I then enjoyed a few drinks out in the yard during the evening-- and lit up a citronella bamboo torch for 'mood'.
Later we thought we were hearing voices at the gate to which there were 5 fireman and truck out front.
Someone called to complain about an open flame.
When I showed them what it was around the back of the house...they were laughing.
I mean, we didn't even have a radio on..just this little torch.
:)
Sunday was spent with Ma, and that was about it--no creating. No crafting. Sometimes though a small break gets the juices going ...

oh - for those who might think i am ignoring my ma, she lives 3 time zones away so a phonecall was all that a daughter could do to mark the day. she'll be visiting me next week so i'll get her some flowers then.

gnar - that is a funny fire story! once i was at a backyard tiki-themed party where a person decided they were going to demonstrate the art of juggling or twirling flaming torches and when she started twirling, all of the flaming fuel from the torch splattered on the side of the house and remained on fire. everyone was kind of stunned so it was a few seconds before people scattered finding jugs of water to put it out. anti-climactic or maybe more climactic? i dunno...

wow, crazy funny fire stories. Unfortunately, or fortunately, the only fire that we had this weekend was an amazing BBQ with a lot of friends which was great!

I also went to a bunch of garage sales and found some really great treasures.

Yesterday, i spent a bunch of time gessoeing some new canvases to get them ready for today, which is collage time!

And of course, i saw my mom yesterday and shared an awesome tea time and figs and pomme tarte with...mmmm...yummy...i think it's lunch time!

Yeah...I also did the whole "Mom" thing. I don't really believe in such "holidays" as mother's day, but she really likes it so we do it to make her happy.

I never really get much work done on the weekends because there's always too many family/social obligations. It's funny... I sometimes feel relieved when Monday comes, so that I can get back to my craftin'! LOL

Happy Monday y'all!

A whole lot of no-crafting happened to me too -- Saturday we went to the lake (took some listing photos tho) and Sunday we were out house-hunting.

Yep, we're in the market. Ima little freakin out actually. Although, and this may be of interest, did you know there are special Self-Employed Mortgage Programs for folks who own their own business? If you have been in business (officially) for two years you may be eligible.

In other news, I made the Bag Lady Etsy gift guide, woot!
