UPDATE: Harbourfront Centre's Artists-in-Residence Bienniale Exhibition
Features new and original works highlighting the diversity and accessibility of contemporary craft by presenting works by ten artists-in-residence in an atmosphere that advocates risk and experimentation.

Featuring: textile works by artists Norah Deacon, Thea Haines, Kate Jackson, Amanda McCavour; glass works by Sally McCubbin, Einav Mekori and Brad Turner; ceramic works by Carmen Schroeder; jewelery by Annie Tung and Suzanne Carlsen. Curated by Melanie Egan and Patrick Macaulay.

This biennial exhibition gives artists an opportunity to work with curators and to rise to the challenge of creating works that push their artistic boundaries and galvanize them in new directions.

8 Degrees of Separation
These recent Sheridan Design programme graduates (Eleni Alpous, Julia Breckenreid, Warren Brown, Kagan McLeod, Alain Parizeau, Alan Smith, Emily Tu and Matt Hammill, Alexei Vella) provide a glimpse into their current studio practice in a variety of media: including
graphic arts, furniture, textiles and illustration.

Some Material Concerns: Kerri Reid
This mixed media work based on traditional craft disciplines twists the logic of commerce by staging the reappearance of utterly useless abject objects and insisting upon their value through the means of artistic production. Unfolding in three phases – an initial encounter with the objects, an ongoing studio engagement with the objects, and the reinserting of objects back into the world of objects - this process suggests we treat even the most mundane objects with care. Born and raised in Vancouver and currently based in Toronto, Reid studied at the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design and the University of Guelph. She has participated in shows in Alberta, Argentina, Australia, and Vancouver and has a solo show at the Centre des arts actuels Skol in Montreal in May.
